Submission Guidelines

General Guidelines

Please read all submission guidelines. Work that fails to adhere to these guidelines will not be considered.

Main Squeeze Magazine is currently OPEN to submissions.

Please submit previously unpublished poems, short stories, and creative nonfiction. We do not take material that was created using AI. Simultaneous submissions are fine, but we ask that you inform us ASAP if your work was accepted elsewhere.

  • Poetry: Up to 5 Poems (max 7 pages)
  • Prose: 4000 words max, limit 1 story (or 4 flash fictions/micro essays of 1000 words or less)
  • Art: Up to 5 images, any format, as long as we can work with it (see “Art Joust” page!)

Email mainsqueezelitmag@gmail.com and attach your submission to the email as a Word .doc. Please include the genre of your submission and the current year in the subject of the email (example: “Nonfiction 2025”). If your piece does not have a title, please label it “Untitled.” We look forward to reading your work!

By submitting your work you give consent for Main Squeeze Magazine to publish it upon acceptance.

Please direct submissions to mainsqueezelitmag@gmail.com.

We want writing that is strange, unexpected, hopeful, complex, and overripe. We want your medieval gallantry, your blatant propaganda, your chewed-up paper, your wine-drunk confessions. Send us something from the belly of the whale. Make us “Huzzah”!

Video Submissions

Main Squeeze now accepts video submissions. If you have an original song to sing, a screenplay or performance art piece, spoken word or original monologue, we’d love to see it.

Please send your video in a .mov, .mpeg4, or .mp4 format. If you are unable to send your video in one of these formats, please reach out via email, and we will work with you on your submission.

  • Main Squeeze Magazine accepts submissions only via email. Send submissions or questions to mainsqueezelitmag@gmail.com.
  • List the work(s) you are submitting and include a brief third-person bio within the email submission.
  • Please submit all poems, flash fiction, or micro essays in a single document. Limit one genre per submission.
  • The deadline for submissions is Feb. 19.
