Bitterroot Memories – Land of the Salish

Art by Kathleen Frank

Even at age 78, painter Kathleen Frank feels she still has hundreds more miles to trek in her quest to paint breathtaking landscapes. Frank is in love with nature—the brilliance and vivaciousness of the natural world is what makes her heart sing and compels her to hike and seek out magnificent vistas to depict in her oil paintings. This is her community! We hope that her work and artistic process are of interest to you for a feature article.

Her most recent foray was from the mountains to the plains of the Big Sky Country of Montana. She and a friend drove to Montana from New Mexico, pulling a little camper behind them. They camped and hiked every day, and she captured images for her upcoming solo museum exhibitions: Northwest Montana History Museum in Kalispell, Montana; MonDak Heritage Center|Art & History Museum in Sidney, Montana; St. George Museum of Art, St. George, Utah; Fine Arts Gallery/University of New Mexico Valencia, Los Lunas, New Mexico; and International Art Museum of America in San Francisco, California.
