Reasons I Get Up in the Evening

I love the feeling of nothing in the air,
keeping the everything at bay as the
white sun sets into the purple sky.

When the moon is out, I watch it eaten
by clouds and streetlights. They swallow it
in pieces but never bite. There is no one to hide from in the night,
only the sun. To hide from the sun is
a noble art if you do it right. They say I’m
doing it wrong.
            I’m clearly doing it right.
